St. Paul Police are investigating the city's fifth reported homicide of the year, following a shooting Sunday that left one man dead at a homeless encampment.
Police were called to the 1200 block of Jackson Street around 1:15 p.m. on a report that an adult man had been shot.
The camp is near the Trout Brook Nature Sanctuary on the city's north end, adjacent to Interstate 35-E.
Arriving officers found numerous people giving aid to the injured man inside a tent.
The man later died at the scene.
So far there aren't any arrests, and no ID of the victim.
"Anybody with information is encouraged to call our homicide unit," said St. Paul police Sgt. Toy Vixayvong.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.
