St. Paul police officers responding to a domestic dispute call Saturday night shot and wounded a man who was wielding a knife.

The incident took place around 9:15 p.m. at the corner of North Rice Street and Magnolia Avenue, and the man is reported in stable condition at Regions Hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen.

The domestic incident reportedly included a car crash that happened earlier in the night at Rice and Maryland.

St. Paul police say the man was found hiding inside a trash dumpster near the Bradshaw Funeral Home, and reportedly ran at officers before he was shot.

Officers reportedly used a chemical irritant and tazers before the shooting happened.

They also had a canine unit on scene.

There are no ID's and the BCA is investigating.

Officials say no officers were hurt in the incident, and those who were involved are now on standard administrative leave.
