Wednesday morning, the Minneapolis City Council will share findings from after-action reviews of how the Minneapolis Police Department and Chief Brian O'Hara handled a pair of high profile shooting investigations.
The investigations include the death of Allison Lussier, a 47-year-old Indigenous woman. Lussier was found dead in her apartment in February 2024.
The other case is the shooting of Davis Maturi, who was shot by his neighbor following a year-long pattern of harassment and intimidation. Maturi had reported incidents to police several times.
This all comes as questions linger about whether or not the council will approve O'Hara for another term, which ends later this summer.
Mayor Jacob Frey has expressed confidence in O'Hara and said he believes he is worthy of Council approval. But this month, the Council rejected Toddrick Barnette as the city's Commissioner of Community Safety, casting doubt on how they would vote on another term for O'Hara.
Frey has since vetoed the rejection of Barnette.
