The Minneapolis City Council passed a resolution Thursday honoring Harper Moyski.

The 10-year old Moyski was one of two children shot and killed during that mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in August.

“May Harper’s light continue to remind us that the measure of a society is found in how deeply it loves and protects its children,” it says in the declaration.

Moyski's father Mike thanked council members, first responders and police,  who took care of the children as the tragedy unfolded.

"I remember that morning - sorry I'll get choked up - but I remember that morning, seeing all the families come together," remembered Mike. "And when Jackie and I found out what happened to Harper, we were obviously devastated. Hardest moment of our life. But then there were people in that room that I couldn't even recognize today probably, because it was such a blur. That all had a function, that allowed us to continue moving forward beyond that awful moment."

It's actually Harper Moyski Month in Minneapolis. November is her birthday month.

"It's helped us out," continued Mike. "And it continues to help us out. And the outreach that we get from many of you here today is a big part of our recovery."

The other child that was killed at Annunciation is 8-year old Fletcher Merkel. Several other children and parishioners were injured in the tragic shooting. The city is still planning an honor for Merkel at a later date that is still to be determined.
