Attorney General Keith Ellison, & other state leaders are advocating for education around a new law that will expunge low-level convictions.

A first-of-its-kind free expungement clinic will be held in Minneapolis, connecting Minnesotans to information about the new law & the expungement process.

“On Jan. 1, 2025, the Clean Slate Act goes into effect, but we want to make sure we got Minnesotans covered in the meantime,” Ellison said.

Kahlee Griffey, the Co-Executive Director of the Until We’re All Free movement, explained the impact of the law, sharing that as a juvenile in an abusive relationship, a wrong decision changed the course of her life.

Now, thanks to the legislation, she will see her mistake as a young adult go away in 2025.

Leaders hope the new law will lower barriers around employment, housing, and educational opportunities.
