With more and more people coming back downtown Minneapolis to work, Mayor Jacob Frey is inviting them to work, and then stay to play. There are more than 1,800 events and activities planned now through September 1st, Frey says they’re excited to welcome people back downtown.

There are too many to mention, but at a pretty big and crowded press conference Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey highlighted two big events taking place downtown this summer.

“Gay Pride, and Taylor Swift,” declared the mayor. “Same weekend.”

And plenty of sporting events as well, with the Minnesota Lynx kicking off their season on Friday and the Twins getting in on the action too.

“They’ve already announced TC Summerfest. We’re talking Imagine Dragons and The Killers coming forward,” says Frey.

Frey added that "Summer Downtown" kicks off with workers visitors and residents all invited to take part in Downtown Field Day at The Commons, just west of U.S. Bank Stadium on Thursday, June 1. There will be activities, games, friendly competitions, food trucks, celebrity appearances, live music, and happy hour from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

“This is a great time to be downtown Minneapolis, and we invite you to join us this summer,” said Leah Wong, Vice President External Relations of the mpls downtown council. “With more than 1,800 events and activities, there is something for everyone. Come to the office, plan a dinner outing, see an outdoor movie, or take in a major concert. There are limitless options for you to explore downtown.”
