The city of Minneapolis has enacted its one-sided parking policy for the first time in four years.
Beginning Thursday night, you can no longer park on the even-numbered side of non-snow emergency routes.
Public Works Director Margaret Anderson Kelliher said the city is ready to clear the streets once this starts, and it will ticket and tow starting tomorrow night at 9.
“We are about as wide as we can get right now,” she said. “Making the streets passable–particularly for public safety vehicles–is important.”
She was joined at the announcement by Minneapolis fire, EMS, and public school officials.
“This is inconvenient for people, and we understand that,” Kelliher said. “We hope people can work together.”
This parking policy will be in place until April 1st.
