Minnesota has seen a boom in the THC industry lately and now the state has its first Mushroom store.

The laws regulating the sale of mushrooms is different than that of cannabis.

"Mushrooms go underneath supplements, so they're really not governed by really anybody right now," says Wonderland Mushroom co-owner Steven Brown. So it's just like going to a GNC store. Now, psilocybin on the other hand is regulated by the government as a schedule one drug. Which we can't sell in here and we don't sell in here."

The health benefits of mushrooms can be greater as well.

"Most of the stuff that we carry inside our store is all about health and wellness like lions, man, cordyceps, reishi, chaga," explains Brown. "A lot of people use that for, you know, immune boosting properties. People use lion's mane for an enhanced brain power. There's a lot of people that use lion's mane when it comes to dementia."

They offer plenty of "goodies" centered around health and wellness but without the "trip" you take with the psychadelic mushrooms you might be familiar with.

"So many people have anxiety, and PTSD, and pain, and so if I could save a few lives off of using one of the products here, that's why we need, natural health alternatives for people," Brown says.

Using mushrooms for better health isn't exactly new. Penicillin actually comes from fungi.
