Minnesota native was on American Airlines plane that struck Black Hawk copter; GoFundMe raising money for family

More than $300,000 has been raised on-line for the family of a Minnesota native who was killed in that mid-air collision between a passenger plane and Black Hawk helicopter.

Family members confirmed that Wendy Jo Shaffer was a passenger on American Airlines flight 5342.

She graduated from Mahtomedi High School under her family name Wendy Wigstrom, attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, worked for Cargill, and was living with her husband and two young sons in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The GoFundMe site was set up by friends, who included the statement "Her love, kindness, and unwavering spirit touched everyone who knew her, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

Her family is requesting privacy.

Everyone on board the plane and helicopter were killed in the collision, which happened on Wednesday.
