Ahead of the Alpine Ski World Cup, Minnesotan Olympic skiing champion Jessie Diggins is updating supporters about her mental health.

Diggins shared online in September that after 12 years of recovery, she had relapsed with her eating disorder earlier this year, coming off of a gold medal win in the women’s 10-kilometer race.

“I would love to have fun and be here with my team… but I want to make sure that my health comes first,” Diggins said.

She says she’s not speaking out for herself.

“It has been challenging at times, it hasn’t always been easy,” Diggins said. “In sharing my story, I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from a lot of people that I’ve helped them feel less alone.”

Diggins says even though she’s currently training in Finland, she’s not feeling the pressure, and she still has the Minnesota 2024 LOPPET CUP in mind.

The Cross-Country World Cup season is set to kick off this weekend in Finland.
