A 9-year-old boy is safe and back with his guardian after police say he was kidnapped by his mother early Sunday morning.
Minneapolis Police and the BCA say the boy returned home around 5:00 p.m. Sunday, but his mother, 27 year old Latiena Smith, has not been located.
She is the child's non-custodial parent and has a protection order prohibiting her from having any contact with him.
Police say Azherian Kingston Smith was with his custodial caregiver at her home on the 3000 block of Third Street North when his mother came to the back door and took the child.

Police say the boy appears to have wandered back home on his own.
Anybody with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Minnesota.
