Lawmakers are backing a new teen-lead advocacy group seeking involvement in cannabis policymaking that they say will impact their lives as well.
DFL Senator Susan Pha & members of the Cannabis Awareness and Education Council for Youth are highlighting the need for youth voices when it comes to shaping cannabis law.
Youth member Darius says the council is calling for more education about the drug and the consequences of using it in schools.
“If I get caught with cannabis underage, even though it’s legal, what is going to be my punishment?” Darius asked.
Pha says the goal is to get two seats on the Cannabis Advisory Council specifically dedicated to young people between the ages of 18-25.
