Our sudden summer has also jumped straight into sudden road construction. A heads up especially if you’re traveling to the northwest metro this weekend, you may be running into some road closures.
The most significant impact will be along Highway 10 in Anoka and Elk River this weekend. MnDOT will close both directions of Highway 10 between Highway 47/Ferry Street and 7th Avenue from 10:00 p.m. on Fri., May 6, until 5:00 a.m. on Mon., May 9, so construction crews can remove and replace water mains, sanitary sewer and storm sewer utilities beneath the highway near 4th Avenue.
At the same time, Highway 10 in Elk River will close in both directions at the Highway 10/101/169 interchange from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, until 5:00 a.m. on Mon., May 9 so construction crews can remove the northbound Highway 101/169 Bridge over Highway 10.
WCCO Traffic Reporter Jerry Peterson detailed what to look for across the metro area beyond just the work on Highway 10.
Closures will be in place for 494 eastbound between Highway 5 and Pilot Knob Road. Westbound 494 will be closed between 35E and Pilot Knob Road.
