Need an Uber or Lyft from the airport? Passengers at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport will now have a smoother experience thanks to a new pickup zone.
Last week, the Metropolitan Airport Commission implemented a key rideshare change at Terminal 1, moving the pickup zone down one level.
The move from the commission is expected to significantly reduce congestion at the pickup zone.
The zone is said to have capacity for nearly 50 vehicle spaces, which is double what the area zone up had, according to a press release.
“Every airport experience begins or ends with ground transportation,” Brian Ryks, CEO of the MAC, which owns and operates MSP, said in the press release. “These improvements allow us to offer more convenience and service for thousands of rideshare travelers every day. The spacious Ground Transportation Center lobby offers more seating and a fully covered pickup area that removes the impact of weather when passengers load into vehicles.”
In the last 12 months, MSP says that more than 1 million passengers have ordered a rideshare service, around 2,900 ride requests per day.
