Live Nation officially opens its 19,000 seat outdoor amphitheater Saturday in Shakopee.

The Mystic Lake Amphitheater is slated to host 40 shows this summer, with tomorrow night's Setting the Stage event showcasing a variety of Minnesota talent.

"You know, the first feature that stands out is unparalleled intimacy for a venue this size," Live Nation Minnesota president Josh Lacey says. "I've never experienced anything like it as a large venue. I think you walk in here and it feels incredibly intimate when you're in the performance space stuff. So wherever you are in the performance area, you're going to feel like you're in the action and just really excited for people to experience that."

The venue's expected to bring in over $73 million in annual fan spending.

The first show on Saturday night hosts a "Setting the Stage" event featuring Minnesota artists, including Saturday Night Live cast member and St. Paul-native Tommy Brennan.

"So, we want to deliver an awesome lineup of Minnesota artists, entertainment, and to be able to do it at a very approachable ticket price," Lacey adds. "So tickets are just 20 bucks. The goal is to welcome as many different Minnesota music fans, entertainment fans, as possible to come experience us and make history with us, push the boat off the dock on this first night."

The amphitheater near Canterbury Park is set to host 40 shows this summer, including Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Chris Stapleton, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, and Iron Maiden.
