All the construction throughout the Twin Cities includes work on improving and updating Metro Transit's network of buses and trains

This year three bus rapid transit lines are opening with the Metro Gold Line back becoming the first in March.

Metro Transit spokesperson Drew Kerr says a lot of the work that's getting done is in coordination with other road and street projects happening

"Construction will continue in June with the opening of the Metro B line on Lake Street all the way from St. Paul to Uptown" says Kerr, "And then in December with the E Line largely along France and Hennepin Avenues connecting Edina to the University of Minnesota."

He added that Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis is a good example of a place where a lot of work will be taking place.

"The city of Minneapolis is leading a reconstruction of Hennepin Avenue and at that same time we are putting in bus shelters that will eventually be served by the Metro E Line Opening in December. A lot of the improvements that are being made out there there is a transit element to it."

Metro Transit's encouraging riders to plan ahead as additional construction across the Twin Cities will cause more than two dozen routes to be detoured.
