A new opioid outpatient treatment clinic officially opened its doors early Monday morning in Roseville, the second such clinic opened within the past year by Community Medical Services.

The clinic, located at 2350 Cleveland Avenue North, is a walk-in style clinic providing medication, counseling, and behavioral therapy to those struggling with addiction.

“This is a long time in the making,” Seneca Krueger, the Community Impact Manager for CMS. “We’ve been waiting to open this clinic for about a year now.”

Krueger said Monday that the clinic’s opening comes during a time of great need as opioid overdose deaths continue to rise.

“What we do is we treat opioid use disorder with medications,” added Krueger. “Those medications are methadone and buprenorphine. They really take away the withdrawals and cravings for opioids. We know this is really important because many people in the community say that most of their day is filled with trying to stay health and trying not to be sick from withdrawals.”

In addition to the medication, CMS offers services to help address some of the underlying causes of opioid use disorder including trauma, fractured family relationships, and child welfare issues.

“We can treat the withdrawals and cravings, but we really want to treat this whole person. We provide counseling, case management, peer support services in addition to those medications.”

In January, CMS reported that its Minneapolis clinic along West Broadway had treated 100 opioid patients since opening in its first three months of being open.

The demand is expected to be similar in Roseville.

“We know that the need is there in the community. I know the extended hours we offer, especially the later hours we offer there help people access services,” Kruger said. “We hope to see the same thing in Roseville. I know we’ll grow the clinic just as fast. Unfortunately, the need is there.”

Walk-ins are welcome at the CMS opioid outpatient treatment clinic in Roseville which is open from 5:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
