Wisconsin governor Tony Evers announced a new order on Tuesday that will limit public indoor gathering sizes as COVID-19 runs rampant across the state.

State health officials reported 2,020 new cases on Tuesday and 18 additional deaths.

Wisconsin has reported over 17,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last week, more than double of Minnesota, which has seen just 7,000 new cases in the last week.

Starting Thursday, all public indoor gatherings will be limited to 25 percent of a building's capacity. Indoor public spaces without a capacity will be limited to 10 people.

The order will last until November 6 and does not apply to colleges, schools, churches, polling locations, political rallies and outdoor venues.

Violators could face forfeitures of up to $500.
