No one was hurt but a landmark Catholic church in northeast Minneapolis was heavily damaged by fire Monday night.
"I think it's going to be a total loss, but we were able to avoid any loss of life or injuries," said Minneapolis Fire Chief Bryan Tyner.
Crews were called to Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in the 2200 block of 5th street in northeast Minneapolis around 7:00 p.m.
There were a few parishioners inside the sanctuary when the blaze broke out, and all were able to escape to safety.
"Because of the construction of the church, the fire quickly spread into the attic area and eventually burned through the roof," said Tyner.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is helping to determine the cause of the fire.
