Police exchange gunfire with suspect in north Minneapolis, no one struck by bullets

No one was hurt by gunfire that police say was exchanged between an MPD officer and a suspect late Saturday night in north Minneapolis.

Police say they were investigating suspicious activity on the 1700 block of Vincent Ave. around 11:30 p.m. when a man fled the scene on foot.


Officers pursued the man, and gunshots were then reportedly fired at police.

One officer returned fire.

It's not known who fired at police, according to an MPD press release.

The man who ran from police is in custody.

One officer was treated for an unspecified injury.

Police will not say if the injury was connected to the shootout.
