Heather Galvin took a snow shoveling break with her two sons playing in the house in Lino Lakes Thursday.

“I agree with canceling school today,” Galvin said. “Yesterday was maybe extreme–a little pre-emptive!”

Driveways cleared pretty easily thanks to the lighter, fluffier snowfall overnight Wednesday that continued early Thursday morning.

Eddie Hoffman was making a second run over his neighbor’s driveway with his snow blower, and he said he noticed many people heeded public safety warnings to stay home amid blizzard-like conditions.

“I think a lot of people do take it seriously,” said Hoffman. “I think a lot of the older generation take it more seriously, having lived through more instances of heavy snow like this.”

Galvin agreed that it sounded like it would be a lot worse than it’s ended up–so far.

“It’s Minnesota,” she said with a laugh. “This is what we expect.”
