The V3 Sports complex in North Minneapolis is now open and ready to impress. And it is hands down a first class facility.
"We have a pool that is engineered in Italy, we got all the newest technology, we have beautiful equipment, there's beautiful spaces, there's a lot of windows and natural light and views," says Executive Director Malik Rucker. "The colors are here is very calming. It's just a vibe."
And for this neighborhood to finally have amenities like this? It's invaluable.
"There's not too much access to health and wellness amenities or water safety in North Minneapolis," says Rucker. "And what it means to me is just access, having it where you are, you can have a higher quality of life where you live. You don't have to go anywhere else."
The $100 million project offers 40,000 square feet of world class amenities that will provide North-siders a greater sense of pride.
Although the land was purchased in 2017, they couldn't break ground until 2022. Getting to this point was not easy.
"COVID, the social unrest, inflation, supply chain wars, oil prices, all of this stuff," Rucker explains. "We faced a lot to get to this moment. Our price doubled but we found a way to persevere and get here."
V3 officially opened May 11, but will celebrate their grand opening on June 22.
