A northern Minnesota man is dead after his paraglider crashed. It happened just south of Brainerd on Wednesday.
Investigators say 81-year-old Wayne Kyar was trying to land in a field when something broke off the back of the engine. It then broke the propeller blade causing him to crash into some trees. Kyar ended up hung in a tree
Kyar was out with a friend who safely landed his paraglider in an open grassy field.
While Kyar was in the air, he unbuckled his harness and fell to the ground.
Lifesaving efforts were taken with emergency responders, but Kyar died at the scene. The crash was before 7:00 p.m.
