Six people were shot, one of them fatally, in a shooting late Monday night in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of 17th Avenue and Franklin Avenue South. This is just south of the Metro Transit maintenance facility.

There's no information on the victim that died. The other five victims include an adult male with serious gunshot wounds, along with two other men and two women, all with less severe injuries. They are all expected to survive.

Additional officers from Minneapolis Police Department, University of Minnesota and Metro Transit Police were called in to help with a crowd that had formed near what police call a 'small encampment' nearby. One person was arrested for obstructions and on unrelated warrants.

Around the time of the shooting, emergency crews were working another incident in which someone had gotten pinned between a light rail train and the Franklin Avenue LRT station platform.

That person was taken to the hospital for treatment and has been released. According to Metro Transit, the incidents are not related.

Metro Transit officials say because of the ongoing investigation, bus routes 2 and 9 are detoured around the area until later Tuesday.

Minneapolis police have released no further information.
