Two men people are dead and a third injured following a violent, firey one-car crash inside the Lowry Tunnel in downtown Minneapolis that closed westbound Interstate 94 for several hours Sunday night.

The highway has reopened.

The state patrol says the crash happened at 9:40 p.m.

Video shows a BMW approaching the tunnel in the westbound lane, skimming off the inside guard rail, crashing into the tunnel wall, and then exploding in a ball of fire.

The skidding vehicle left behind a trail of fire, with smoke billowing out of the tunnel.

It's not known what caused the crash.

There is no identification of the two men who died, but their ages were revealed by authorities as 31 and 34.

Authorities say 24-year-old Demetrius Ramon Hart was taken from the scene with life-threatening injuries.
