Authorities are still trying to figure out how a Metro Transit bus crashed into another moving vehicle, resulting in one death.

It happened at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and 25th Street East, right in front of Children's Hospital. The road was closed for hours after the bus rammed into a passenger truck killing one person.  Police say the collision happened around 11:00 Sunday night when the bus was traveling north on Chicago Avenue.

"What we had here was a D-Line bus, so these are buses that are up and down Chicago Avenue most of the day and into the evening, "says Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr. "It's a really popular bus route, probably our most popular bus route, so it's not surprising there were people on board."

Authorities have not said if the person who died was on the bus, the other vehicle or a pedestrian.

In addition to the one fatality, six people were hurt in the crash.  All were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The D-Line is an express bus that runs between the Mall of America and Brooklyn Center.
