St. Paul's 29th reported homicide of the year happened early Friday afternoon near the busy intersection of Dale and University near the Rondo Community Library.
A man was shot to death in what police say was a drive-by shooting, and two young children in the back seat were unharmed.
"To say that this was a close call (for the children) is an understatement," said St. Paul police sergeant Mike Ernster. "The infant was seated in a car seat, after review by the homicide investigators, was noticed to have two bullet holes in it."
There are no arrests.
This is the tenth reported homicide in St. Paul in the last two months.
