There may be some movement Monday in the Minneapolis Park and Recreation worker's strike.

Members of the Minneapolis Park Board meet Monday at 5:00 p.m. for an update on the contract impasse that's led to the strike by park and recreation workers.

Those workers walked off the job last week and union leaders say the strike would last ten days.

Union leader A.J. Lange says they were upset that the Park Board barred anyone from coming back to work until a contract was reached.

"What they're threatening to do, and even the threat itself, is illegal and we're prepared to file an unfair labor practice charge with the Public Employment Relations Board in Minnesota," explained Lange.

This all comes after the Minneapolis Park Board made what they called "their best and final contract offer" that included a ten percent raise over three years.

Union members say wages are a major issue, along with job safety.  They plan to picket ahead of the meeting Monday at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden starting at 10:00 a.m.

There's already been some fallout. The Minnesota Orchestra canceled their concert scheduled for Monday at the Lake Harriet Bandshell because of the strike.
