Engineers are on the scene of Northrop Auditorium on the campus of the University of Minnesota after part of the roof collapsed last night.

There were no injuries were reported and the building will remain closed for now.

Two nearby parking ramps, Church Street and Northrop, are closed Thursday out of what the University says is an "abundance of caution."

For those who are holding tickets for upcoming performances, there are details for you on their website here.

Northrop first opened in 1929, and has undergone numerous renovations over the years. It's used for concerts, lectures, and graduation ceremonies.

Northrop was first conceived of as the northern anchor of a 1907 Cass Gilbert-designed campus gathering area, today called Northrop Mall. University officials wanted the anchor to be an auditorium to serve as “a lively center for the arts.” It was named in honor of Cyrus Northrop, the University’s second president.

The venue went through and extensive, $88 million renovation beginning in 2010.
