A police officer in Coon Rapids is recovering after she was hit by a truck while working the other night.
It happened Monday night near Foley Boulevard and Sixth Avenue.
Police Chief John Stahnke told city council members the officer got out of her squad to clear some mailboxes that had been hit by another driver, and while she was in the road, another truck spun out of control, hit her squad and then hit her.
Stahnke took the opportunity to remind everyone of Minnesota’s Move Over Law.
“If there is an additional traffic lane available and there are emergency vehicles working on the side of the road with their emergency lights on, we are all required to move over,” said Chief Stahnke in the meeting. “Give those emergency workers enough room to do their job.”
The officer was not seriously injured, but the chief said she is still very sore.
