A massive five-day festival honoring Prince's legacy coming to Minneapolis and Chanhassen this week.

Minnesota is preparing to welcome fans from around the world for a series of concerts, panels, and community gatherings as Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has proclaimed it Prince Celebration Week.

It's being organized in part by Prince's former manager and attorney Londell McMillan, who says it's about more than the music.

"Including our support for each street and the local businesses who may have lost business opportunities," says McMillan. "We're Encouraging them to frequent the communities that Prince saw when he grew up in this wonderful Twin Cities. It's a very special year, the 10th year anniversary of his passing."

The multi-day tribute features a historic joint performance by members of both the Revolution and the New Power Generation bands, and a massive block party in downtown Minneapolis.

The packed schedule begins Thursday night and includes a Prince-themed night with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field, a massive free block party featuring a 100-piece choir sing-along, and exclusive open-house access at Paisley Park studios.

"I'm excited to have people come out and participate, and I'm very grateful for the fans who are coming from all over the world, very grateful for the local residents who saw him not only as a magnificent superstar, but as a neighbor," adds McMillan.

He says the event comes at an important time for Minneapolis when many local businesses could use the foot traffic in the wake of Operation Metro Surge.

It all kicks off Thursday night at the official downtown launch party at First Avenue.
