The Associated Press projects that the Democratic ticket of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will win the home state of Walz, Minnesota, defeating the Republican ticket of Donald Trump and JD Vance.

This makes 13 straight presidential elections going back to 1972 that Minnesota has voted blue, the longest streak of any state in the country.

Walz, who is Minnesota's governor, is seeking the office of Vice President under Harris (the national election is still uncertain) and he would be the third Minnesota politician to hold that office joining Hubert Humphrey in 1964 and Walter Mondale in 1976.

Despite winning Minnesota's 10 electoral votes, the Trump-Vance ticket is projected to win the General Election and return Trump to the White House.
