Quit Partners of Minnesota is looking for former smokers to help others quit too.
If you've ever been addicted to nicotine, whether that's in the form of cigarettes, vaping or chewing tobacco, you know how hard it is to try to kick the habit, says Quit Partners spokesperson Mike Sheldon.
"You know, one of the things that can be helpful and is certainly encouraging, is hearing from folks who have successfully quit," Sheldon explains. "And hearing what tips or tricks that they may have used to help them kind of kick the habit."
He says they offer free support for anyone wanting to quit, adding that this is more important than ever with an increase in vaping among young people.
"These are products that can be pretty appealing to them, and it's kind of the old industry playbook of some rather nefarious marketing products, especially when it comes to marketing products to youth," Sheldon adds.
He says they are simply asking former smokers to share what worked for them. "We do want to make sure that folks understand that they have these, again, these free tools and resources that are available to them, to help them quit any type of tobacco product," says Sheldon. "Whatever it is that they need support with."
