A massive racetrack themed restaurant and entertainment complex is coming to Shakopee. The Boardwalk Kitchen & Bar is expected to be finished next spring.
Co-owner Joe Berg says the new three-acre complex will feature an expansive patio and a stage for live music.
"We're going to provide a really, really good scratch kitchen, American fare, and then on the other side we have an entertainment venue that you're going to be able to watch sports at," explains Berg. "And then, obviously we have the patio out back. An 18,000 square foot patio that butts right up to the racetrack. There's very few places that you're able to go and experience more than just one thing."
The restaurant will be 6,000 square feet according to Berg. He says the collaboration with Canterbury Park made this project possible.
"We got as as close as the gaming commission would let us get to the track," Berg said. "We are truly 25 fott off of the rail of the track and we're also 25 feet off of the shoe."
The venue joins the areas already vibrant food scene that includes Bravi’s Craft Mexican Kitchen and Badger Hill Brewing.
Berg says with it's growing population, Shakopee was the overall ideal location for the complex.
