Wednesday is expected to be a record-breaker as far as our temperatures are concerned. WCCO Radio Chief Meteorologist Paul Douglas says we could hit 75 degrees today which would easily break the record for the day.
There is also some much-needed rain in the forecast for Thursday night into Friday and Saturday. Douglas says most of the rain will fall south and east of the metro however.
“The immediate metro, we’re going to be right on the edge,” says Douglas. “The western and northern suburbs, I don’t know, not that much. A tenth, two-tenths, maybe a quarter inch. While you head over to Woodbury, Stillwater and River Falls, and there could be closer to an inch, an inch and a half.”
Douglas says temperatures will be back in the mid 40's by the end of this week before another brief warmup early next week as our unusual heat continues well into fall.
“I’m still hanging in there with a predicted high of 75 which would smash the old record of 72 set back in 1978,” Douglas predicts. “A little surreal being in the 70s here in early-November but we have no control over this, love it or hate it. I think most of us love it, at least secretly.”
Douglas says have no fear, winter will still get here. He says despite our warm bumps, the cold air will start coming in waves over the next few weeks.
By the way, expect some 60s with a slight chance of rain on Election Day next Tuesday. No reason not to get out and vote!
