The reopening of Shepard and Warner Roads in Saint Paul has been delayed. The two roads along the Mississippi River were expected to open again this week, but according to Lisa Hiebert with St. Paul Public Works they will remain closed for now.
“We originally hoping that we could have reopened Shepard, Warner Road earlier this week but unfortunately due to the heavy rainfall we need to keep Shepard and Warner Road closed,” explained Hiebert.
With no expected reopen date being released, Heibert asks residents for patience in waiting for flood waters to recede.
“We don’t have a time at this point when when we’re going to be open the road,” Hiebert told WCCO. “Currently it looks like we’re going to get up into moderate flooding levels in St. Paul, which is above 15 feet.
The current forecast for the Twin Cities doesn’t show any rain over the next week, so officials are hopeful water levels will drop quickly. The St. Paul Public Works closure lists has a May 29 reopen date listed but that is something that could change says Hiebert. The have been closed since mid-April.
