The sit-in took place within the security perimeter of the Democratic National Convention. Uncommitted delegates and other DNC attendees making the demand that there be space made on the stage this week for Palestinian-American speakers.
Congresswoman Ilhan Omar took the time to sit with these demonstrators, even sharing a tearful hug with the sit-in organizer.
Omar said that pro-Palestinian Democrats aren't trying to help former President Donald Trump return to the White House, what they want is for Harris-Walz to win their vote.
"To invite every single voter that cares about peace and humanity, that cares about the destruction, that cares about the lives that are being taken every single day."
Outside the perimeter Wednesday night, more than 2,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched peacefully past a park where pro-Israel demonstrators had gathered earlier. That demonstration came a day after violent clashes between police and protesters led to 56 arrests at a much smaller, unsanctioned protest outside the Israeli Consulate in downtown Chicago.
Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said the protest Wednesday night ended without arrests and that no one was injured.
