Timberwolves-Nets game postponed after death of Daunte Wright

The Minnesota Twins postponed Monday afternoon’s game after Daunte Wright was shot and killed by police on Sunday, and theTimberwolves are the next sporting event postponed, according to reports.

Brooklyn was scheduled to visit the Timberwolves on Monday night, but according to Adrian Wojnarowski, discussions were had about potentially postponing the game, and decision will be made Monday afternoon, and according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, it was ultimately decided that the game should not be played.

Wright’s death, coupled with the ongoing trial of former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin accused of killing George Floyd, has sparked protests in the area, and the Twins elected to postpone Monday’s game “out of respect for the tragic events that occurred [Sunday] in Brooklyn Center.”

“The Minnesota Twins organization extends its sympathies to the family of Daunte Wright,” the Twins said in a statement announcing the postponement.

Last year, all NBA playoff games were postponed on Aug. 26 after the Bucks boycotted their game after Jacob Blake was shot by police in Wisconsin.
