You may notice fewer Salvation Army volunteers ringing bells this holiday season compared to last year, that's because the Twin Cities Salvation Army says it's behind last year's bell ringer pace by more than 3,000 hours.
Dan Furry, with the Salvation Army Northern Division, says that because of this lag some struggling families may not be able to be helped this holiday season.
"That adds up to a significant amount of fundraising dollars, which means people who would normally be helped by the money we raised might not be able to be helped."
Furry says inflation and the economy could be behind the lack of volunteers this year.
"That is having an impact on people being able to devote less of their time to things of this nature and being able to volunteer."
Just three weeks remain in the Red Kettle campaign. This year's goal is $2 million. If you're interested in volunteering you can find more information on their website.
