Cloudy, rainy conditions didn't take away the excitement at Sea Salt Eatery which officially opened for the season Friday morning at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis.
A line of about a dozen people braved the weather to get their first taste of the seasonal staple.
"We're all excited to see each other, we haven't seen each other since last season," said David Jones who is in his second season at Sea Salt. "We hadn't seen the community. It was a tough winter, so it's good to see familiar faces, the park the way it's supposed to look with the green and the leaves on the trees soon, and it signifies the start of warm weather and the summer."
This year's opening date is just one week later compared to 2025. Even with the cloudy, cold weather on the horizon, it likely won't stop crowds from showing up.
"The neighborhood residents know that when it's rainy day, the line is shorter and they can get their food quick. It's not going to stop us, or dampen our spirits."
From classic eats, to new offerings, Jones said there's something for everyone.
"The crawfish Po' Boy, fried fish Po' Boy, the list could go on-and-on. We've got new things coming up and new specials that I don't even know about yet."
Beer options and a sandwich room that is in its fourth full season have historically been popular and likely will be again this year.
"Peek Sea Salt it is absolutely hot as can be, every table is filled, and I'm probably carrying around an order looking for a lost 52," Jones said. "Everybody loves it and is having a great time. It's just the best and you don't want it to end. Once the Fourth of July gets here, it goes fast and goes downhill. We get into that fall and to the point where we are about to close. We a long way to get to until then."
