18 innings later and nearly three weeks after it started, a South Suburban Conference varsity baseball game finally came to an end on Wednesday night at Joe Schlepher Stadium in Shakopee.

The game featuring Prior Lake and Shakopee was part of a game that started back on April 25th at Target Field. It went into extra innings that day and with both teams tied at two runs each, the game was suspended and postponed going into the ninth inning due to time constraints.

Both teams met Wednesday and planned to play out the suspended April 25th game before playing a second regular season game. Those plans changed though as inning after inning went by, with neither team able to pull away.

Eventually, in the 18th inning, Shakopee broke through with eight runs to take a 10-2 lead.

Prior Lake was unable to strike back. Stats and other information about the game weren't immediately available.

As for the second game scheduled Wednesday night between the Prior Lake and Shakopee, it was postponed and rescheduled to Friday night.
