An apparent shooting in the Uptown neighborhood of South Minneapolis on Thursday drew a large police presence to the area.
Witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots come from inside the Breakfast Klub restaurant on Lagoon Avenue in Uptown. Around 12:15 Thursday afternoon, several people were seen running out of the restaurant. Shortly after that, two people reportedly left in ambulances.
According to a witness account, their injuries are not yet known.
It's the second shooting to happen on that block since last fall. In October of 2020, a security guard was shot inside the Fire House, the restaurant right next to the Breakfast Klub.
Breakfast Klub will be closed until "further notice" according to a company statement on social media.
"We appreciate your support and sincerely apologize to everyone who was present during the incident," the statement read in part. "Unfortunately, we have no influence over the ignorance of outsiders, but we will use this lesson to make our workplace and customers' environments safer. We shall be closed till further notice as a result."
WCCO has reached out to the Minneapolis Police Department for more information. This is a developing story.
