It's the phrase some can't wait for, while others dread

"Measureable snow."

And it's possible on Tuesday in the Twin Cities.

Following the dusting that came to the region on Friday, with some areas of Minnesota getting a coating of white on Saturday, forecasters are predicting snow showers into Monday morning.

After that comes enough snow to ski on... or shovel out.

"It looks like there's a decent chance of two inches or more of snow for much of central and northern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area," said Lisa Schmidt, forecaster at the National Weather Service bureau in Chaska.

"We're keeping an eye on it, and definately you may want to start locating shovels in the garages for Tuesday," she said.

With snow predictions in October, many Minnesotans will start grumbling about the notorious 1991 Halloween snowstorm.

Schmidt said all that proves is that the snow can come as early as late October.

"It's a little bit earlier than normal for sure," she said, adding that the forecast shows nothing near as severe at that storm of nearly 30 years ago.

"Certainly not what we're expecting for Tuesday," said Schmidt. "This isn't any sort of a record event, just a little bit earlier than we normally see our first snowfall."
