Three people are in custody following a deadly Wednesday afternoon shooting near the near the 3300 block of W. 66th Street in Edina near the Southdale Center.
Edina Police said Wednesday evening that the three suspects were arrested for probably cause murder and that the victim and suspects "are known to each other."
No identities have been released.
"When officers arrived, they found one victim with a gunshot wound," Edina Police Chief Todd Millburn said. "Despite life-saving measures, the victim died. The suspects ran away from the scene before officers arrived, and officers are still following up on leads."
Milburn also said they're asking that if anyone has any security footage, any surveillance, that they please reach out to the Edina Police Department. Milburn also confirmed they are looking for "more than one person."
WCCO's Ari Bergeron talked to a man who works nearby.
"All of a sudden we heard like three, four gunshots, looked outside, saw people running, cops pulling up super quick, probably less than like 5 minutes," said Don, who works at the Firestone next to Southdale. "Just looking over there, you can see like the white sheet covering the guy and a bunch of SWAT and CSI coming."
The shooting occurred at a 39-unit facility that supports permanent housing for young adults 18 to 24. It reportedly happened around noon.
According to one witness, he heard three shots and saw a body with someone performing CPR.
Most surrounding businesses were immediately put in lockdown, but that has since been lifted.
