The St. Louis Park Police Department says they have responded to three robbery attempts in the area over the past two weeks.
On Nov. 29, 2021, shortly before 8 p.m. there was an attempted carjacking at Bridgewater Bank, 4450 Excelsior Blvd., St. Louis Park. Three young men implied they had a gun and demanded the victim’s keys as he was approaching his car. The victim ran back into the building.
The suspects left the area in a black Dodge Durango. The victim described the suspects as young Somali men saying they spoke to him in his native Somali language. Investigators believe the victim was followed into the bank parking lot.
On Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at 5:30 p.m., a woman's purse was stolen at the Lunds & Byerlys, on 3777 Park Center Blvd parking lot. St. Louis Park police officers checked the area for the suspect’s getaway vehicle, described as a light-colored SUV. Later, the suspects tried using the woman's stolen credit cards at stores in Richfield and elsewhere. Security cameras captured the incident, the suspect and vehicle involved.
Just yesterday, a man was injured during an attempted carjacking. Police say the suspects were unable to steal the man's car but took off in a light-colored SUV. Police say these incidents are not connected to Thanksgiving weekend carjackings in the Fern Hill neighborhood of St. Louis Park.
Anyone with information about these suspects or about these incidents is asked to call the St. Louis Park Police Department at 952.924.2618 or Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 1.800.222.8477 or www.crimestoppersmn.org.
