St. Paul Police are investigating an early morning double homicide in the city's north end.

Homicide investigators believe two adult men were fatally shot by each other on the 400 block Front Avenue, exchanging gunfire in a domestic-related incident around 4:20 a.m.

"This incident appears to be domestic in nature and that these two individuals knew of each other," says St. Paul Public Information Officer Nikki Muehlhausen. "And that these two individuals were also the two that fired shots at each other."

One man was found deceased on the street, and the second, who arrived at a fire station with multiple gunshot wounds, died shortly after at Regions Hospital.

"We're trying to determine exactly their relationship, but what we do know from witnesses so far is that these two men knew each other in some way, shape or form," Muehlhausen explains.

It's the city's tenth and eleventh homicide of the year.
