Saint Paul police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death in an alley.

It happened, just before midnight, a 911 caller reporting shots fired on the 500 block of Lawson Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a man in an alley suffering from gun shot injuries. Paramedics tried to save him, but he died at the scene.

Investigators are looking for witnesses and other evidence to determine what led up to the shooting, and who is responsible for the man’s death.  Police say the Video Management Unit will be searching the area for any video footage.  The Ramsey County Medical examiner is expected to release the name and age of the person killed at their exact cause of death.
