The St. Paul School Board has approved a $1 billion budget for the upcoming school year.

While the budget's about the same as last year, this year's budget includes a decrease of just over $114 million as the district deals with a projected $150 million shortfall.

Budget cuts include some teaching positions, art and music programs, custodial staff and bus route alterations.

The district say cuts are mostly the result of the loss of pandemic aid from the federal government.

The school board does say they plan to tap into their reserve funds to keep the cuts from being as drastic as they could have been.
