For the first time, Minnesota State Fair commemorative artwork is crop art.
The 22-by-30 inch detailed mosaic made entirely from seeds was unveiled Thursday night.
It's the work of Liz Schreiber, winner of seven blue ribbons at the state fair crop art contest.
Over the years, the chosen official commemorative artist has worked in many different mediums from photography to watercolor to screen printing.
The original will be on display during the state fair at the Fine Arts Building.
She says commemorative art piece took about three-hundred hours to create, and consists of 29 different types of seeds.
It has the image of a cow at the hub of the giant ferris wheel, with a couple of tractors and ears of corn adorning the top and bottom corners.
For good measure, an image of crossed corn dogs on the lower border.
Crop art has been part of the Minnesota State Fair since 1965, and there has been comemorative artwork for the fair since 2004.
Prints of the commemorative art will be on sale all during the state fair.
The 2023 Minnesota State Fair begins August 24th and ends on Labor Day.
