Minnesota state prosecutors are seeking a higher level of sentencing against former Brooklyn Center police officer, Kim Potter, who is charged with killing Daunte Wright in April.
In a Friday court filing, prosecutors said they will ask for an upward sentencing departure saying Potter's conduct "caused a greater-than-normal danger to the safety of other people" and she "abused her position of authority."
Potter is charged with first- and second-degree manslaughter for shooting Wright during a traffic stop.
The trial is set to begin November 30th. She could face a sentence of 15 years behind bars.
The defense argues Potter fired her weapon accidentally instead of her taser.
